• Notes

  A small article in the Alaska Daily Empire newspaper of Sep 1 1917 reports Frank left home and joined Canadian troops to fight in Europe. The article is politically incorrect by today's standards but does say he send home a German helmet. The story credits it coming out of Pomona, Calif. Another article and published letter about the helmet was found in the Fargo Forum and Daily Republican issue of Dec 18, 1917 tells some of the story.
